At the crack of dawn, establishments like this one on Amsterdam's Museumplein start baking fresh Oliebollen and other Dutch Christmas seasonal treats. Although they look like street theaters, their fragrance is a hint of delights to come once they open up, for the occasional unsuspecting tourists and for locals and commuters in the know.

A Christmas market is being set up on the famous Leidseplein, with a skating rink and again Oliebollen! Tourists flock to the square and take hundreds of pictures.

Nevertheless they are hugely popular and loved by everyone.
